Then.. The Ranch was, at one time, part of the Rancho Santa Maria, a large ranch that was a Mexican Land Grant originally issued in 1833 to Narcisco Betello, now a part of Ramona's history. The Santa Maria Creek, when it is running, flows through property from the Sutherland Dam located North of the property approximately six miles. In the late 1800's, the Ranch was a large working Turkey Farm….complete with ranch hand accommodations (the current office) and smoke house (now the recreation building). At the turn of the century on into 1910, the Ranch was known as the Ramona Tent Village renting tents complete with wood floors and water for just $5.00 per week! After the tent village days were over, the ranch became a "trailer park" renting space by the day, week, month and year until it's current use as Manufactured Home Community. Oak Tree Ranch always has and continues to provide a peaceful, quiet country setting enjoyed by many. |

Now.. While the days of turkey farming, tent village and even “trailer park” have past, Oak Tree Ranch continues to offers an idyllic country setting where wild turkeys from the farm days can still be seen! The homes of today do offer quite a few more amenities than the wood-floored tents! Although there has been tremendous modernization at the Ranch, some things always remain constant…the peaceful, serene setting of oak trees, open meadows and peanut loving squirrels. |
